HONORING THE LEGACY OF
DR. CONRAD WORRILL

The 2nd Annual Chi-Village Kwanzaa Celebration honors the deep connections throughout the African Diaspora, the enduring legacy of Dr. Conrad Worrill, and the profound love Chi-Village has for the community. Dr. Conrad Worrill was instrumental in transforming Kwanzaa into a widely celebrated holiday in America during the 90s. His efforts in organizing the largest Kwanzaa celebrations and educating the world about its cultural significance have left a lasting legacy, ensuring that Kwanzaa remains a vital and cherished part of our cultural heritage, celebrated in homes and communities nationwide.

Chicago's rich history as a hub for Kwanzaa festivities sets the stage for this vibrant celebration, which weaves the past and present to forge a blueprint for a future rooted in unity, collective building, and restoring economic prowess. Chi-Village is reigniting the flames of community with new young energy and revitalizing the legacy of Kwanzaa celebrations. This celebration is more than an event; it is a call to action. Dr. Conrad Worrill's championing of Black Liberation, cultural preservation, economic freedom, and the expansion of individual and collective consciousness among African people throughout the Diaspora are at the heart of this celebration. We are dedicated to upholding these principles, ensuring our community thrives and prospers.

"It is our responsibility to preserve the cultural integrity of Kwanzaa against anyone or anything that seeks to undermine it. Because that is the legacy that we've inherited and that's our responsibility." - Baba Hannibal Afrik.
